Balla Géza’s Furmint comes from a low-yielding, south-facing slope named Öreg-dűlő – “old vineyard” in Paulis – with rocky granite soils – hence, part of the Stonewine line. It’s aged on the lees in half stainless, half large Hungarian oak barrels for 6-8 months, resulting in a duality of fruity and savoury flavours like juicy peach, ripe apple, lemon zest, and a long, peppery finish. We love this Furmint with Thai food, vegetable stir fry, sweet and sour shrimp, poultry and pasta with white sauces, and cheeses like Gouda and Emmental.
