Hungary's varied wine regions produce an exciting range of white wines, some of which are easy drinking favourites while others offer wine lovers great depth and complexity. With dry furmint from Tokaj becoming ever more popular, we're proud to offer you a selection of wines from some of Hungary's best white-growing regions, including Tokaj and Balaton.
Winemaker: Bence Laposa
Region: Balaton - Badacsony
An exciting true terroir wine: Keknyelu is a rare grape variety from almost exclusively the northern shores of Lake Balaton, a specialty from Badacsony. Its floral bouquet becomes reminiscent of yellow fruits upon aging. At the age of 2 or 3, Keknyelu turns into a rounder, more serious wine.
Those who are already familiar with the variety won’t be disappointed, but also highly recommended to those who are a bit more experimenting and want to taste some unusual volcanic wines from this region.
Winemaker: Gabor Adam/Sabar Winery
A flowery nose with clean and fresh appearance. On the palate it is zesty with vivid, crispy acidity. On the palate we can discover the notes we have found on the nose: owery, fruity. A most enjoyable, elegant wine with perfect balance.
Training System: Medium High Cordon, Hand Harvested
The wine was fermented in stainless steel, then half of the lot was matured in oak barrel.
Serve on 10-12 C
Food pairing: The ideal wine pair of salads with lemon juice, sh dishes, light courses with olives, risottos, sweet potato.
